Greyson & Jasun Sweatin Me Wet Atlantic • 1991

Sweatin me, nigga! This is some funky ass hip-hop. No one less than Slick Rick’s DJ/producer and former mentor of J-Zone, Vance Wright, handles the production knobs on this album. The rhymes are smooth, the beats are massive.

The opening track is an up-tempo beat with on-point rappin and a sample from 'Shaft’s Theme'. 'Livin Like A Troopa' is one of my favourite cuts: 'I got my nine millimetre and my Rambo knife' Greyson raps about his daily life over a funky beat with a capital f. The guitar sample and smooth bass line just bugs me out. The title track has a Rakim sample and a nice synth loop in the chorus and there’s a nice story to it. Vance Wright brought along Slick Rick, who guest stars on the song 'Get Bizzy' and drops the usual smooth, fast rhymes.

This is not the best production of Vance but it sure sounds dope. Greyson and Jasun did a good job and even the shout out song is terrific. A must-have for Slick Rick fans and hip-hop collectors!
