VA Underground Overstood CD + DVD Alchemetric • 2011

Bay Area’s apparel and entertainment brand Alchemetric LLC managed to compile some exclusive tracks and interesting footage of live performances and interviews.

The CD holds underground legends such as Tame One and El Da Sensei aka a great Artifacts comeback track, Kool G Rap on another raw NY anthem ‘To Live And Die In NY’, and freestyle specialist J.U.I.C.E. with trademark punch lines (‘I don't cheat I just be teachin all my bitches polygam’). Ed OG completes the classic line-up while underground acts C Rayz Walz, Breez Evahflowin, L.I.F.E. Long, West Coast revelations Deep Rooted a.o. add a contemporary twist.

There's a nice interaction between CD and DVD as the latter holds visuals of most of the artists included on the audio part of this project as most of them are also interviewed. That way, you could be watching the interviews and play the artist's song in the background. The music is far from any of its participants’ greatest songs, but, hey, don’t expect a compilation to turn into a classic. Insightful and entertaining though.
