Masked Avengers So Wonderful Ep 48 Music • 2004

What happens when Philadelphian Maylay Sparks aka Rahsheed lands on a Zurich airport and the Masked Avengers Hands Solo and Fico take him to the weed spot? Some kind of magic! Earlier this year, they released the single 'Too Much/True Classic', two dope cuts that, unfortunately, don’t appear on this EP, except for the remixes. Then already you could smell a hunch of what nice things was to come.

'Small Time Thing' is a melodic song with a piano lick and strings and Maylay talking about the life he lives. 'Through These Veins', an ode to hip-hop, is a slow mellow track with predictable but nice samples, much alike the smooth and reminiscent track 'Love Supreme'. The beat of the fun skit 'Early Morning' (about Hands on Experience?) is great and begs to be played a bit longer, but soon 'Soopa Freak' sets in, where Rahsheed rhymes about the girlies over another def beat.

The remixes are dope, especially the 'True Classic'-remix (nice scratches, great samples and a small extract of Pete Rock & CL Smooth’s 'T.R.O.Y.'!). Much too soon followed by the farewell at the airport where this wonderful adventure ends. The Avengers’ underground sound and Maylay’s down-to-earth lyricism go hand in hand and once again, it is proven that overseas collabos is the success formula of the year!
