This LP’s groundbreaking in the use of samples; a lot of them will sound familiar. The Kool & The Gang break in the Bomb Squad produced 'Coolin in Cali' was also used in Stezo’s 'Bring the Horns' for instance.

Just like the cover the music is funny and about havin a good time: 'On the Beach' is crackalackin humour: seagulls are screaming in the background while Reggie B is choking in the sand 'God made dirt and dirt don’t hurt'…imagine that.

Kwame The Boy Genius Atlantic • 1989

Kwame rhymes with style, finesse and an open mind. Positive rap was not new at the end of the 80s through the success of the Nativue Tongue click, especially De La Soul, but Kwame’s a nice representative too, yet, with a very personal style.
