So how do the two MC’s of SAS match up with a producer of that reputation? Well, they make sure the focus stays on the production, which isn’t exactly a bad thing. Phil da Agony and Krondon are not bad when it comes to rhymes and flows, but they just aren’t able to hold the listener’s attention for the whole nine nor to keep the attention away from Madlib’s production.

A dedication to moving on in the best way, to grow up, to deal with responisbilities, D.Black’s newest album seemed like a complicated task for a lyricist of that young age (22), but amazingly the Seattle rapper really did an admirable job.

Obviously this album is packed with great production, but DJ Spinna offers the opportunity for guest rappers to shine over his beats. The stress is definitely laid on lyricism, as Torae explains in his ‘The lyrics is back’.

Break fiends, 70’s funk afficionados beware, because Breakestra is back after a five years’ break. With the first listening we had some problems with our time orientation, as the music totally pulls you back thirty years earlier.

Hip-hop from the soul, in beats and rhymes, but as well hard, totally in the vein of 'the more emotion I put in it, the harder I rock'-philosophy. 'This is been overdue so are you ready for change?', Aarophat asks in the album. We certainly are.
